You would be forgiven for thinking that it always rains on Miyajima. In a way, it seems fitting that the Itsukushima Shrine is surrounded on all sides by water, and that the green mould on the roof echoes the lush vegetation of the hills above and the yellow-green seaweed washed in from the channel separating Miyajima from the mainland.
