Scenes reminiscent of Davey Dreamnation’s Top End tour confronted journalists at the Camp Davey compound last night, after the artist’s spokesperson revealed the latest mp3.com.au artist chart rankings.
After an inexplicably erratic first two weeks on the free music service, Davey Dreamnation has risen so far in the rankings he may soon need oxygen.
“That’s right,” confirmed Scaramouche, “last week Davey almost scraped into the top 1000. Tonight, he is ranked #233rd overall, and an amazing #67th in the alternative charts.”
Dreamnation’s rapid and continuing rise in popularity is sure to compensate somewhat for the sad news (reported yesterday) that Dreamnation’s pal and musical collaborator, Quito, died suddenly on the weekend.
“Davey Dreamnation wishes to express publicly his grief and sadness, which is nothing in comparison to the sadness of Quito’s brother, Moss. Davey wishes also to dedicate these latest rankings to Quito’s family and his luminous memory. Thank you,” said the llama, before being whisked back inside the compound for an official Camp Davey wake.
