Davey Dreamnation has made a habit recently of confounding fans and critics alike. Now, the enigmatic and photogenic performer has gone one step further, by completely confounding and bamboozling himself.

Today marks the launch of the unofficial “nu-gazer” remix of Davey’s killer pop tune “Loveless”. The new remix, with ex-Jet Ski Parts incendiary guitarist E.L.T. at the console, is entitled “(True) Loveless”.

“Well, the way I look at it, if Andy Bell can join Oasis, Davey’s quite entitled to strap onto the nu-gazer revival. And strap on he has, with the help of his long-time friend E.L.T. [who refuses to eat bacon – ed’s note],” Scaramouche told journalists waiting outside Camp Davey, somewhere in the Snowy Mountains this morning.

The release of the “bootleg”, timed to coincide with the middle of July, has again ignited rumours that Davey Dreamnation, rather than releasing a debut album, intends instead to compile two albums’ worth of material and release them consecutively on DNRC.
Davey’s chart position remained steady today. The original “Loveless”, meanwhile, has rocketed up the mp3.com.au charts, now sitting at #1003 overall, and #262 on the alternative charts.

“Davey thanks his fans, who have now downloaded his songs over 70 times in the past two weeks. He urges his fans to continue to download his songs until he says stop,” Scaramouche added.
