Morgenland is an archaic German word which translates (literally) as ‘morning land’ but which is also used as a shorthand for ‘the East’—specifically, East Asia.
Morgenland is also the title of a chapbook of my poems published in In 2007 by Vagabond Press in a limited edition of 100 copies.
The poems in Morgenland were written during my time in Korea and Japan in 2005–06.
This page collects those poems, plus additional poems that did not make the cut, and several more works composed in the years since my first visit to Korea in 2005.
Combined digital and print reissue scheduled for 2020.
