Cordite Poetry Review co-founder Adrian Wiggins launched and ran the sydneypoetry.com online community and Final Friday readings series from his house in the inner-city Sydney suburb of Newtown.

In 2010, Adrian invited me to perform at the October reading and I was more than happy to agree. To commemorate the event, he produced a limited-edition chapbook featuring eight of my poems, paired with offbeat images from the commons.

The reading was pretty intimate, although we did have a PA. Basically, a group of people crowded into Adrian’s lounge room paid me the ultimate compliment by listening to me rant on for about an hour, and then subjected themselves to a Q&A with me as well!

Only 15 copies of the book were ever printed. The cover image is a detail from a photograph Adrian took at an installation by Melik Ohanian in the Georges Pompidou Centre, Paris, titled ‘Slowmotion – From Slave to Valse’.
