Last year I received the good news that my PhD thesis, "Bonfire of the Vanity Presses: Self-Publishing in the Field of Australian Poetry" had been accepted by Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, meaning that I could start to go around calling myself a doctor (except in emergency situations on planes). In 1983 the American Library Association (ALA) produced a poster featuring the character of Yoda from George Lucas‚Äô Star Wars (1982). In the poster, which bore the title 'READ - and The Force is with you', the Jedi Master Yoda carried his trademark cane, as well as a red, hardbound book.
